THMP-Specific Training
Program/Training and Monthly Regional Calls
New ADAP Enrollment Worker (AEW) Training – Must be completed within three months of employment or at time of first available training. This two-day training includes instruction and coaching to provide ADAP Enrollment workers with the knowledge and tools needed to link Texans living with HIV to medications paid for by the Texas HIV Medication Program. The training is broken up into three parts: THMP 101, Case Analysis (which provides practice with real-life scenarios), and Special Populations (which provides basic information on TIAP, SPAP, Post-Incarceration, Pharmacy and Ordering). AEWs are provided with a binder containing DSHS and THMP policies and procedures to be used as a job aid. While this training is customized for the role of the AEW, other workers (case managers, program managers, directors, DSHS staff, etc.) are encouraged to attend, especially if knowledge of THMP will help them become more successful in their roles and in achieving viral suppression.
Regional Calls – A time for workers in the field to ask questions of THMP staff and for THMP staff to share program updates, provide mini-trainings, and offer specialized technical assistance to the regions. ADAP Eligibility Workers, Case Managers, and others who work with clients to submit THMP applications will receive invitations to attend the regional calls.
AEW Regional Updates (200 Level Training for Established AEWs) – This 1½ day training includes instruction and coaching to provide ADAP Enrollment workers with a deeper understanding of THMP programs (such as SPAP, TIAP, Post-Incarceration, Pharmacy Ordering, Recertification) and Program Updates. Since the instruction and discussion is more advanced, it is ideal for the AEW to first attend the New AEW Training before attending an AEW Regional Update. While this training is customized for the role of the AEW, other workers (case managers, program managers, directors, DSHS staff, etc.) are encouraged to attend, especially if knowledge of THMP will help them become more successful in their roles and in achieving viral suppression.
